The CMI — a cutting-edge learning lab for students, as well as a hub for local media and the Downtown Pittsburgh community — now has a space on the first floor of West Penn Hall on Wood Street.
"I had the chance to attend Point Park's High School Journalism Workshop and I really liked the campus and how intimate it felt. Plus, it’s in a good spot in Downtown Pittsburgh to easily walk to different locations."
"As a Point Park student you create your own path. Especially as a theatre arts student, you get to direct your own education. The resources available to us, both at school and in the Pittsburgh area, are plentiful."

More than 160 prospective students explored the fields of media, marketing and communication at Point Park University's annual High School Media Day Oct. 21.
"There’s so much culture in Pittsburgh, and being able to experience it unfiltered is one of the coolest things about going to Point Park. It is far more fulfilling than going to a school that is just a campus and nothing else."

Students reporting for The Globe — Point Park's independently run student newspaper — received several SPJ Mark of Excellence Awards in Region 4, including Best All-Around Student Newspaper (Small).

U-View, WPPJ radio, The Globe and the Point Park News Service will be actively working throughout the night while presenting their coverage outside on campus and livestreamed on the CMI's YouTube channel. Additionally, the broadcast will be projected 40-feet high on the YWCA building at Wood Street and Third Avenue.
"I had opportunities to attend other universities out of high school, but what made Point Park’s School of Communication stand out was the ability to get that hands-on experience from day one. You don’t get that experience anywhere else."

"New students can be active in their major and get involved with student media from day one. They can join U-View — Point Park's student broadcasting network — and crew a show, host an on-air segment or even produce their own content. Additionally, with minimal training, they can produce their own show on WPPJ, our student-run radio station," said Robin Cecala, Ph.D., associate professor of broadcast production.
"My internship was all about handling the media to ensure they had the proper resources to do their jobs ... It feels like I had a networking opportunity everywhere I turned! My job led to me constantly being surrounded by professionals not just in the Penguins organization, but media from all over the country and beyond," said Spirito.
"My experience with student media like U-View and The Globe were vital in preparing me to be the one-man band that is a multimedia journalist. Those groups pushed me to refine my writing and video skills and to find my own stories to tell — independence is vital as a reporter in a small town," said Casey Hoolahan '18.

Pioneer Records, Point Park University’s student-operated record label, will launch their third season of "Backstage with Pioneer Records," the label's on-campus radio show, Feb. 7, 2020.
"I left Point Park as an intrepid reporter after tough love from the professors. They pushed me to step out of my comfort zone to get the story. When I left I felt ready to tackle every story thrown at me from the tearjerkers to the hard-hitting investigative pieces that create change."
