"I had the chance to attend Point Park's High School Journalism Workshop and I really liked the campus and how intimate it felt. Plus, it’s in a good spot in Downtown Pittsburgh to easily walk to different locations."
What factors led you to choose Point Park’s journalism program?
I remember watching advertisements about Point Park being a good school for broadcasting and journalism. Eventually, I had the chance to attend the High School Journalism Workshop and I really liked the campus and how intimate it felt. Plus, it’s in a good spot in Downtown Pittsburgh to easily walk to different locations.
What makes Point Park’s journalism program distinctive from other universities?
For me, I was able to stretch myself in different directions. While the core of my classes had journalism as the focus, I was able to dabble in video and radio production, photography, podcasting, on-air broadcasting, among other areas.
What are your responsibilities as a media intern with The Incline this semester?
I primarily put together the daily events calendar for the newsletter that is published during the week. I also help with the structure and organization of the newsletter, curating local news summaries and Locals to Know, which is a weekly interview done with an interesting Pittsburgh figure.
In what ways have you grown professionally as a result of this internship experience?
The biggest thing is staying on top of everything and meeting deadlines in time for the newsletter to be approved and published. It has motivated me to be a better student and get work done ahead of time rather than overwhelming myself like I have done in the past.
What are your favorite places to hang out on campus or in Downtown Pittsburgh?
When it’s nice outside, I like to sit at Point State Park. At Point Park, I spend a lot of time at the Pittsburgh Downtown Media Hub and the library in the University Center.
What are your career goals?
One of my main goals is to grow my sports podcast to become a consistent source of revenue. Additonally, I'd like to work in television and radio covering sports or news. I also want to continue to grow my network and establish connections locally and outside of Pittsburgh.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
My friend and I host The Rossetti and Stewart Podcast, where we talk about all things sports. We've interviewed athletes and industry professionals working in sports broadcasting and journalism and it's so much fun.
