Election 2020: Point Park University's Center for Media Innovation to Host Outdoor Election Night Coverage Thursday, October 29, 2020

Seeing them have the confidence to work together — and with administrators, staff and faculty — on a project like this, shows that Point Park is preparing them for the professional world."
The Center for Media Innovation will host a night of live election coverage produced by Point Park University student media.
U-View, Point Park's TV station, WPPJ radio, The Globe newspaper and the Point Park News Service will be actively working throughout the night while presenting their coverage outside on campus and livestreamed on the CMI and U-View YouTube channels. Additionally, the broadcast will be projected 40-feet high on the YWCA building at Wood Street and Third Avenue.
"We are pleased that Point Park’s students not only will witness an historic election, but will participate actively in the process by providing comprehensive coverage — by video, photography, audio and written words — from across the Pittsburgh region," said Andrew Conte, Ph.D., CMI director. "Keeping with the mission of the CMI, we are inviting the public to be part of this process by watching election results at a live outdoor event with appropriate social distancing."

The Point Park community is invited to stop by Village Park and Alumni Park to watch as election results come in. Aside from election returns, news coverage will also focus on how COVID-19, the economy, and discussions about race and ethnic inequality may have impacted how young people voted.

Tuesday, Nov. 3, on campus and livestreamed

- 7:30 p.m: CMI's YouTube channel features pre-show coverage, including music videos from Pioneer Records and messages from familiar faces at Point Park.
- 8 - 11:30 p.m.: livestreamed coverage on U-View's YouTube channel. Or, grab some food and safely socially distance in Alumni Park and/or Village Park while learning more about voting, local Congressional and key Senate races, the Presidential election and more.
