Point Park University and Trib Total Media are partnering on a program in which students will generate original journalism for the Trib’s new Downtown Pittsburgh news site.

U-View, WPPJ radio, The Globe and the Point Park News Service will be actively working throughout the night while presenting their coverage outside on campus and livestreamed on the CMI's YouTube channel. Additionally, the broadcast will be projected 40-feet high on the YWCA building at Wood Street and Third Avenue.

From Storyburgh to Pink Panther Magazine, a variety of local and national publications have published the creative nonfiction and literary journalism work of seven Point Park University students and graduates.
"I always knew I wanted to study journalism, but not many schools have a journalism major that focuses on experiential learning versus theory ... Being able to learn from professors who have first-hand experience and connections within the city helped me every day."

School of Communication students will gain hands-on experience in their major in the University's new Center for Media Innovation, set to open in 2016. Located at Wood Street and Third Avenue, the 4,000-square-foot center will have floor-to-ceiling glass walls, flat-screen televisions and a digital ticker that offers a New York City-style media hub where passersby can be entertained and informed as students learn their craft.
