"It is more than okay to come to college nervous and a little scared, but don’t let those nerves and uncertainties stop you from doing anything fun if you have the opportunity to do it."
Why did you choose Point Park University?
I chose Point Park because of the fantastic cinema program and its connections to the film industry. I also wanted to come to Pittsburgh to explore a new place!
How has getting involved on campus enhanced your student experience?
Getting involved is about 65 percent of your college experience. If I wasn’t involved in the men’s rugby club or as a resident educator, I wouldn’t have made half of my college memories (like the Office of Student Life annual “Pizza with the President” event or the Nashville rugby tournament).
What is your favorite Point Park memory?
The first memory that comes to mind is when the RE's went on a nine-mile bike ride at the beginning of the year. There was also the time when the men’s rugby team played two games in Nashville and I scored my first rugby try (touchdown) as a freshman last year.
Why did you decide to become an RE and what have you learned from the position?
I chose to become an RE for multiple reasons, but mainly because I love to meet and help people. One thing I have learned through this position is that everyone opens up in different ways and this has helped me understand how to connect with others.
What opportunities have you had through your major?
I've had multiple opportunities through the cinema department to work on upperclassmen film projects as a boom operator and production assistant. I am also a "Big" to a freshman student through the cinema department's "Big and Little" program.
What advice would you give to incoming students?
It is more than okay to come to college nervous and a little scared, but don’t let those nerves and uncertainties stop you from doing anything fun if you have the opportunity to do it.
