The International and Environmental Studies program addresses 21st-century social and environmental phenomena and problems. Students will become equipped with international, interdisciplinary perspectives to understand and address social and environmental issues that cross borders. Students will study both themes – International Studies and Environmental Studies – and will have an opportunity to focus on one or both of them in their capstone. This interdisciplinary program is designed to allow students to customize their coursework to align with their interests. 

This degree program is ideal for students who are interested in international topics and issues, as well as students who are interested in environmental studies. You will learn from experienced faculty representing all the major fields of the social sciences. Explore sociology, geography, anthropology, political science and history from different perspectives to expand your learning and prepare for impactful career paths.

What You'll Learn

  • Explain main ideas and theories related to international studies and environmental studies.
  • Analyze the intersections of global, national, and local processes. 
  • Develop a research paper that applies key ideas and theories from international studies and/or environmental studies to empirical observations.
