There are many resources and supports available to you both on campus and within the Pittsburgh area. National help hotlines provide you with another layer of aid, with many of them having 24/7 accessibility. Please see the many resources and supports available, listed in both the tabs below.

There are many resources and opportunities available on campus that can help students grow psychologically and become more resilient. These are just a few of the services that can help:

  • Health Services
    The Student Health Center is dedicated to aiding students when they don't feel well and supporting them as they work toward and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
  • Center for Student Success
    The University's Center for Student Success is at the heart of a coordinated, campus-wide commitment to help both residential and commuting students achieve their academic goals through a variety of support services.
  • Accessibility Services
    Accessibility Services helps coordinate accommodations and support for students who have been diagnosed with a psychiatric or physical condition that affects their access to academics or effects their academic performance.
  • Student Activities
    Clubs and organizations at Point Park University are initiated and run by students. They provide you with co-curricular opportunities for social interaction, recreation, leadership training, and enhancement of academic interests. You'll learn to organize and to work with others, pursue special interests, and be able to make friends.
  • Student Center
    The Student Center is committed to providing the finest programs, services, and equipment in order to enrich the University's recreational sports activities for students, staff and alumni.
  • Professional Career-Readiness Center
    The Professional Career-Readiness Center is an education and resource center that helps students develop the professional skills they'll need to achieve their goals, advance their professions, and serve their communities.
  • Title IX Office
    This office provides information, support, explanation of options for resolution or investigation,  and accommodations and safety measures for individuals dealing with sexual harassment or relationship violence issues.
  • Center for Inclusive Excellence
    This office aims to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment at Point Park University. The CIE supports Point Park faculty, staff, and students through independent and interdepartmental initiatives, student learning assessment, and an equitable approach to pedagogy, co-curricular events, and teaching excellence. 
  • SafeColleges Training
    Current students have free access to a library of courses offered by SafeColleges. Students who are interested are encouraged to log into the SafeColleges site to gain access to the courses available. To login, enter your Username (Point Park Email Address) and Password (Point Park ID Number). You will be able to view the course library and choose a course. Most of the courses are brief and can be completed in under 15 minutes.
    These courses are offered to provide our student community with beneficial suggestions and strategies for managing their mental health and well-being. These courses are not related to academic programs at Point Park and offer no credits.

  • Duquesne Psychology Clinic (low-cost counseling): 227 Rockwell Hall, 600 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15282, 412-396-6562
  • Psychology Today: this tool can be used to help find local therapists and psychiatrists in the area who accept your health insurance 
  • Therapy for Black Girls: Therapy for Black Girls is an online space dedicated to encouraging the mental wellness of Black women and girls.
  • Black Mental Health Alliance: Resource for finding a therapist and other mental health resources.
  • Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective: Black virtual wellness directory. 
  • LatinX Therapy: Resource for finding a therapist and a variety of other mental health resources.
  • Live Another Day: Provides mental health and addiction resources for the BIPOC community. 
  • Open Path Collective: This tool can be used to help find local therapists that take a sliding scale fee if you are without access to insurance.
  • DRS Addiction Support for Marginalized GroupsDrug Resource Services (DRS) understands that students from historically marginalized groups face unique challenges when seeking help for mental health and addiction. They have created resource guides to help individuals better understand what shaped the current standard of care for their demographic. DRS highlights resources, helpful organizations, and tools for students coming from Black, LGBTQ+, Asian, Latinx, and Native American communities.

The UCC partners with Thriving Campus to help college students find local therapists. Contact the UCC if you would like assistance.

  • Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh (WC&S): WC&S provides free and confidential services for all domestic violence victims regardless of race, gender, sexual identity, or any other factor.
    Services Include:
    -A 24-hour hotline for safety planning, emotional support, and referral for other services.
    -Temporary shelter for abused victims and their children.
    -Legal options counseling and court accompaniment.

  • RUSAFE App: The RUSafe app is a free interactive app that assesses the potential for domestic violence and harm in a dangerous relationship. By answering a few simple questions about the relationship, RUSafe helps you understand possible threats you may face, while simultaneously connecting you with nearby emergency shelters and domestic violence hotlines.
  • Center for Victims: 1-866-644-2882. Caring, professional staff is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week to respond to emergency needs of crime victims and witnesses, answer questions, and provide support. The hotline serves as the gateway to all of our services. Anyone can call the hotline seeking help for themselves or others, including victims and witnesses and their families or friends, law enforcement, hospitals, social workers or mental health professionals.
  • Womanspace East, Inc.: Womanspace East, Inc. is a nonprofit organization serving homeless families with dependent children in the greater Pittsburgh area. Families seeking shelter are referred to us through the Allegheny Link. For a referral for shelter services, call 1-866-730-2368.
  • Bethlehem Haven: Provides emergency shelter, other housing programs, and monetary/basic assistance to unhoused women. If you are in need of emergency housing please call 412-391-1348 x 250.
  • Pleasant Valley Emergency Shelter: accommodates the needs of 25 men and male-identifying individuals who are homeless every night of the year. The shelter opens daily at 4:30 p.m. Location: 1601 Brighton road, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
