Automatic Acceptance Available for Fall 2024 and First-Year Transfer Students
Point Park University, an official teach-out school for University of the Arts (UArts) students, recognizes how traumatic the closure is for affected students and offers automatic acceptance to those interested in attending Point Park beginning fall 2024. Point Park also will provide one full semester of free housing in its residence halls for up to 75 UArts students.
“Our residence halls have limited capacity, and spaces are filling up quickly. We encourage University of the Arts students to make their decision promptly so they can take advantage of this limited-time housing opportunity,” said Marlin Collingwood, vice president of Enrollment Management. “We understand the difficulties associated with institutional transitions. This housing initiative aims to alleviate the burden and provide a seamless start to your academic journey within our supportive community.”
Automatic acceptance is available for fall 2024 and first-year transfer students. This includes direct artistic admission into the following nationally-recognized and highly-regarded Conservatory of Performing Arts programs at Point Park:
- Animation
- Cinema Production
- Screenwriting
- Theatre Arts
- Theatre Production (technical design/management, stage-management, design)
UArts students will not need to provide a portfolio for these programs but are still invited to submit samples of their works for additional, merit-based scholarship consideration.
UArts students in acting, musical theatre and dance also are invited to apply for placement in their respective programs via the submission of relevant audition materials and/or completion of an audition.

The Center for Experiential Narrative Technologies (CENT), will prepare students for a career at the intersection of technology, media and storytelling. CENT will be launching in the fall and UArts students have the first opportunity to learn about getting in on the ground level. Attend an information session with Founding Director Dr. Don Marinelli.

This day is set aside for students and families from The University of the Arts and Pittsburgh Technical College who are considering Point Park to continue their academic studies. Take an optional tour of campus, sit in on panel discussions and attend a resource fair with the University's departments and schools.

Point Park Approved as an Official Teach-Out School for UArts Students, with Point Park as Only School Providing Conservatory-Style Education
Point Park has received approval from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) to be one of six institutions to be named official teach-out institutions for students from UArts. Nearly 20 different degree programs at Point Park are covered by the teach-out agreement, which is emblematic of the synergy between the two schools.
“Most of these UArts students will need to complete their degrees in a conservatory environment, which makes Point Park a perfect fit for them,” Collingwood added. “Our Conservatory of Performing Arts consistently ranks among the best in the entire country, and we would be a soft landing spot for many UArts students.”

Your Costs at Point Park Will Not Exceed What Your Costs were at UArts
University of the Arts students, transferring to Point Park University under the Teach Out agreement, can rest assured that their educational investment will be protected. Point Park assures these transfer students that they will pay no more in tuition and fees than they were paying at University of the Arts.
This commitment ensures a seamless financial transition for students continuing their academic journey. UA transfer students may be eligible to be considered for additional merit scholarships and other types of federal and state aid.
Students are encouraged to submit their 2023-2024 Financial Aid Award Letter from UA to Point Park University as soon as possible so we can review awards and costs charged by University of the Arts. Award letters should be sent to financialaid@pointpark.edu.
Note: Programs included in the Teach Out agreement include Animation, Creative Writing, Cinema, Graphic Design, Photography, Screenwriting and Theatre and Education Technology.
Due to the limited space in our Musical Theatre, Dance and Acting programs, students interested in these programs should speak directly to an admissions counselor about transfer opportunities as these programs are not included in the official Teach Out Agreement with the University of the Arts.
