Why did you choose Point Park University?

I always knew that I wanted to work in film and/or television. When looking for schools, I actually took an online test that helped me determine what school I should go to and what my major should be. Point Park University topped my list, so I started to research the school. As soon as I visited campus and learned more about the film program the University offered, I knew Point Park was the place for me. I have never regretted my decision.

What opportunities have you had through your major?

I’ve worked on/produced numerous films made at Point Park, and on a few professional sets! I was an extra for the film Concussion starring Will Smith, and I was a crew member working on the American Idol auditions when they came to Pittsburgh. I’ve also had the opportunity to gain experience through two awesome internships with the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Pittsburgh Film Office!

Tell us about your experience in the Production IV course.

Production IV is the final production course you can take at Point Park. I’m working on a project titled, Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Furtive Festivity. This film involves John Watson having to hide a surprise birthday party from his esteemed colleague, master detective, and lover, Sherlock Holmes.

The other film is titled Glory Daze. This film involves Sam, an intern at a major film studio, who is the last hope at giving the delusional has-been director, Chick, a fresh perspective on the change Hollywood needs to see. The crews I’m working with are fantastic and I’m confident that both films will give the audience something to enjoy!

You're vice president and co-captain of the Rugby Football Club. Why did you get involved with rugby at Point Park?

Joining the Rugby Club was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I had always played sports in high school, and I met a few people from the rugby team freshman year and went to a few of their practices. I learned that it didn’t matter that I had never played before because everyone was willing to teach each other. I quickly felt right at home.

The Rugby Club has always been, and always will be, more than a club to me. All the members that joined became my brothers, and having a support system like that is incredible. Now, I find myself as the vice president and co-captain, and I couldn’t be happier! We’re committed to making strides to help improve our campus, host fun events, and get more people involved in the sport.

Where is your favorite place to grab a bite to eat in the city?

One of my favorite places to eat in the city definitely has to be Primanti Brothers. When I think of Pittsburgh food, I automatically think of Primanti’s. It’s very unique to the city. You’d be surprised just how good coleslaw and french fries can taste on a sandwich. I was skeptical about it at first, but once I had my first one, I was hooked!

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Honestly, there is so much this University offers that many other places don’t. Step out of your comfort zone and get involved with either a club or something else in the city. I promise that getting involved is worthwhile! At the end of your time here, you don’t want to look back and have regrets. Take that step and allow yourself to grow.
