Point Park University’s Professional Career-Readiness Center Shows Significant Student Gains in Its 2020-21 Annual Report Tuesday, August 31, 2021

Boosting student professional skills, connecting to meaningful employment and collaborating to implement workforce solutions are just a few achievements reported in the 2020-21 Annual Report for of Point Park University’s Professional Career-Readiness Center.
Established in 2018, Point Park University’s Professional Career-Readiness Center is an education and resource center that provides programs and services to enhance student success by creating opportunities to achieve career readiness, increase knowledge of career pathways and connect to experiential learning such as internships and co-ops.
“We created this center as a response to the need to better prepare students to enter the workforce," said Keith Paylo, dean of students at Point Park. "It’s about more than just having the technical skills to do a job. Even through the pandemic, our annual report demonstrates that we were able to find creative ways to continue to support, mentor and encourage students to achieve their educational and professional goals."
Highlights in the Professional Career-Readiness Center 2020-21 Annual Report include:
- Over 1,000 career counseling appointments
- 162 career-ready events available for students
- 86% of 2019-20 grads felt successfully prepared to begin career journey
The center offered students a variety of innovative opportunities to engage in career progression, including virtual fairs and events, a digital career-readiness platform and a new mentoring program. The center also designed a virtual orientation program and job search resource to help connect and prepare students for virtual and/or hybrid internships and co-ops.
