Why did you choose Point Park?

I chose Point Park because of its amazing dance program and the location. I had a very positive audition experience with Point Park and decided it was the school for me. I had never been to Pittsburgh before and I wanted to experience life in a new city.

You recently started the LatinX Student Association on campus. What was your inspiration for the club and what do you hope to accomplish as a club leader?

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and moved to California when I was five years old. In California, there is a large Latin community. Although I’ve lost some of my Spanish through the years, I can still understand, read and write in it. My love for the culture remains the same, and when I came to Pittsburgh and Point Park, I felt like there was a need for that community and culture. I hope to be able to bring the Latin community, and others interested in it, together on campus to celebrate the culture.

What is the most rewarding aspect of being a dancer?

The most rewarding aspect of being a dancer is that there are no limits when it comes to dancing. Every day I learn something new about myself and grow not only as a dancer, but as a person. I am grateful to be surrounded by so many talented artists who inspire me every day.

Where can we find you in your free time?

In my free time you can find me at home snuggled under blankets, reading my favorite book, watching an exciting crime show on Netflix or snuggled with a dog, because I dog sit a lot.

What is your favorite Point Park memory?

My favorite memory is working at the National High School Dance Festival my freshman year. I was able to meet students from around the world and during the closing night gala, I was able to watch Point Park and Parsons Dance Company perform. It was a great experience being able to connect with so many different people and work at a festival that celebrates the art of dance.

What advice would you give to incoming students?

Never doubt yourself and what you’re capable of. Coming into a new environment can be intimidating and can have you overthinking whether or not you’re good enough. You are good enough, and you’re capable of doing anything you put your mind and heart to. Don’t listen to the negative thoughts that tell you otherwise.
