School of Education Professors Vincenne Revilla-Beltrán, Ph.D., and Christal Chaney, Ph.D., were recently accepted into the 2020 cohort of the Youth Mental Health First Aid to Institutions of Higher Education Project through the McDowell Institute at Bloomsburg University.

Following extensive training, which will include sessions at the 2020 Higher Education Suicide Prevention Conference, Revilla-Beltrán and Chaney will be credentialed as YMHFA instructors.

“We will use this training to increase the knowledge, skills and overall preparedness of pre-service teachers in our K-12 teacher certification programs. This unique project will strengthen our programs and will embed YMHFA training into our coursework to support social, emotional and behavioral wellness of all students,” Revilla-Beltrán said.

Revilla-Beltrán added: “This is an excellent opportunity for Point Park University and for our students who will benefit from our training and new credentials in youth mental health.”
