Claire Costello

What inspired you to pursue an internship with WPXI?

I had the opportunity to job shadow at WPXI when I was in high school. I knew immediately that I wanted to apply for an internship there when I got to college. My job shadowing experience was a great way to get my foot in the door and gain experience for this internship. Always be confident in yourself and what you know!

Tell us about the work you do as an intern.

I've had the opportunity to help with live newscasts, take photos for See & Be Seen and work at various events. I've met so many new people along the way.

Please list your previous internship experience.

Why did you choose Point Park University for your major?

I have always had a passion for the broadcast and media industry. I began as a broadcast reporting major but changed to mass communication to expand my skill set. As I approach graduation, I feel that I have received a well-rounded education at Point Park and am confident in my skills.

What is your dream job?

My dream job would be working for a news organization as a reporter, media coordinator or a related role. The atmosphere of a newsroom feels like home to me.

In what ways is Point Park helping you to achieve your goals?

Point Park has prepared me in a number of ways for this internship and my career. I have had access to equipment (hardware, software, tools, etc.) to help me complete my projects and learn new skills. I gained so much experience and hands-on training for my career. I am ready to land a job in this ever-changing news industry.
