What factors led you to pursue your undergraduate and graduate degrees from Point Park University?
The factors that led me to pursue both of my degrees from Point Park were the opportunities available in each program. I was so attracted to the hands-on experience I would get from the start as a broadcast reporting major. For my MBA, the online experience allowed me to work at a pace that was logical for my school, work and personal life.
How did the School of Communication prepare a pathway to your career?
I was able to get hands-on experience in my major right away at Point Park. Through U-View and my teachers, I learned and developed the skills that are needed to work in a broadcast control room.
You are completing Point Park’s fully online MBA program this semester. How did the MBA faculty impact you and what are some of your favorite grad school memories?
The teachers I had were so helpful with the lessons and instruction they provided in an online environment. Having the opportunity to work with my classmates virtually was great, too, because we were helping each other learn along the way.
Tell us about the work you do as a broadcast technical operator at QVC?
As a broadcast technical operator I’m involved with the daily broadcast programs that air on QVC. My main duties are to operate cameras, graphics and audio. All broadcast technical operators are training to become an assistant director.
What do you enjoy most about your job and why?
I really enjoy the opportunity to work with so many great and talented people at QVC. Every day on the job is different and that makes it a lot of fun.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
Get involved and stay involved. Ask questions from everyone you encounter along the way — the knowledge you gain from people and experiences will be carried into the real world.
What are your career goals?
I would love to be a communications executive for a business or professional sports team, or an athletic director for a college/university.
