Tell us about your positions with the Andy Warhol Museum and Peony Entertainment.
At the Warhol Museum, I manage weekly events on site from set-up to tear down. The events range from weddings to corporate functions to sweet sixteen parties. For Peony Entertainment, I manage all of their event social media platforms. I develop content, maintain and schedule posts as well as engage with our following and surrounding trending discussions. Most recently, I worked on the EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta.
Why did you decide to transfer to Point Park?
I transferred to Point Park from Indiana University of Pennsylvania my sophomore year because of Point Park's urban campus and industry-experienced professors. With Point Park's location being in the heart of the city, I was able to work toward a degree, get credit for several internships and maintain a part-time job while I was a student. The SAEM program is one of a kind and there are a wide variety of ways the degree can be utilized.
Please list internship and career-related experiences you had throughout college.
- Job Shadow, MARC USA
- Marketing Intern and Marketing Assistant, Pittsburgh Restaurant Week
- Special Events Intern, The Andy Warhol Museum
- Marketing Intern, Pittsburgh Magazine
What was one of your favorite college experiences?
My favorite experience in college was being the marketing intern at Pittsburgh Magazine. I was able to gain experience in all aspects of a magazine when working with the marketing team, sales team and editors. I got to use my skills to grow their social media platforms as well as learn new skills and attend networking events. In addition, I gained a mentor relationship with my "rock star" supervisor.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
My advice to students is to always keep strong relationships with past internship advisors and coworkers. It's important to keep them updated on your experience and current position and show them how you stand apart from others. Also, networking has been a key factor for me when navigating between internships. You never know who or where your next opportunity could come from.
