"It gives me a great sense of pride that I can say I got my M.B.A. from Point Park."

As a Pittsburgh native, what factors made you choose Point Park for graduate school?

One of the main factors that made me choose Point Park for graduate school was convenience and flexibility. I was working Downtown at BNY Mellon when I decided to go back to school and knew I wanted to stay in that area and needed the program to fit my life. I researched the surrounding schools, and Point Park soon became an easy decision. It was an up-and-coming university and I wanted to be a part of it.

What are your key responsibilities as a solutions developer for Deloitte?

My key responsibilities at Deloitte are to take existing processes or procedures and enhance them to fit the clients' needs. I do this by meeting with clients and gathering their requirements. Then I create development documentation outlining what needs to be changed, present the documentation to my development team, and assist the team throughout the development process.

Once the development team has made the required changes, I then write testing scripts and perform any system, process or procedure testing needed. After all the changes have been successfully implemented and the testing has been completed, I present the enhanced product to the client.

How have your M.B.A. classes helped you in this role?

The classes I took at Point Park have helped me in many ways. The biggest help has been with time management. Working full time and then going to class was a large undertaking - it didn't really give you an option to not be prepared and have your days scheduled out. Another benefit I gained was strong communication skills. There is a lot of group work required in the program so there must be constant and clear communication among team members.

What's your favorite Point Park memory?

My favorite Point Park memories are currently being made. I like seeing the headlines in the newspapers and on social media about Point Park doing well, making a difference in the community and continuing to grow. It gives me a great sense of pride that I can say I got my M.B.A. from Point Park.

What is your career goal?

My career goal is to be the top employee in whatever role I have. No matter what my career path is from here on, I will do everything I can to rise to the top. I feel that when I stop striving for that, I will be regressing. There is always room to get and be better.

Final thoughts?

If you believe in yourself, you can accomplish anything. Never stop believing in what you are trying to achieve. If you do, you are cheating the people around you, and more importantly, yourself.
