Tell us about landing your new position as a tax associate for BDO USA.

I have really enjoyed this new opportunity at BDO. This is my second job since graduating. Point Park helped me secure an internship with Sarah C. Nickel, CPA, as a tax intern. I was glad that I was able to get back into this part of accounting.

As for BDO, I had a friend who was working here so I decided to learn more about the company. I saw an open position in Pittsburgh on their website and ended up landing the job. As a tax associate, my projects vary from working with corporations to partnerships to individuals.

What led you to Point Park to study accounting?

I had an accounting class in high school that initially led me to pursuing a degree in accounting. I decided on Point Park University because I liked the urban campus and was also looking for an opportunity to play soccer.

I chose accounting as my major because it was of most interest to me. I had great support from my family when I declared my major and really enjoyed the material in my beginning years. I stuck with it and could not be more pleased with the decision.

How did your classes help you as an accounting specialist and now as tax associate?

The course work at Point Park was very relevant and gave me the necessary skills to achieve success in the real world.

What are your favorite Point Park memories?

My favorite memories consist of the four years I spent playing for the Point Park Men's Soccer Team. The team was like a family to me and I really cherish the time I spent with those guys.

What are your career goals for the next five years?

I plan to pass the CPA exam as well as gain as much knowledge and experience in public accounting.
