Country Music Association Chooses Point Park Business Grad for International Exchange Program in Australia Thursday, February 13, 2020

Professor Ed Traversari has always helped me along the way while trying to figure out what direction I wanted to go with my career and I am super grateful for that."
From applicants across the nation, the Country Music Association selected Point Park University alumna Julie Bowser '19, as its United States inaugural participant of the Rob Potts International Exchange Program for individuals pursuing a career in the country music industry.
Bowser will travel to Australia to make international music industry connections and participate in a four-week industry-focused program, which honors the memory of late Australian promoter Rob Potts. During the program, she will have the opportunity to work at the CMC Rocks Festival.
"I'm excited for the whole program in general because I know it will be such an amazing experience. I will be going to many major companies and will be meeting with many music industry leaders that I can learn so much from," said Bowser, who earned a B.S. in business management and is a graduate of Montour High School in McKees Rocks, Pa.
Bowser added: "Point Park University has definitely built a foundation for my career. I began as a sports, arts and entertainment management student and quickly learned about the importance of internships, and did one every semester. Professor Ed Traversari has always helped me along the way while trying to figure out what direction I wanted to go with my career and I am super grateful for that. I left Pittsburgh to do internships in Los Angeles and then eventually moved to Nashville. At that point, I switched to business management so I could finish my degree online, but I still took everything I learned from the SAEM program with me."
While in Australia, Bowser is slated to meet with representatives from ABC Music, Aria, Apple Music, Nine Network Australia, Sony Music Entertainment, TEG Live, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to gain insight into the music and touring industry abroad. She will also attend a CMA task force meeting, comprised of industry leaders in Australia working to promote country music in their territory.
"How exciting that one of our former students has been selected for this prestigious opportunity. There is no one that deserves it more than Julie. She has worked so hard both at Point Park and at all her various internships," Traversari said. "I can't wait to see where this takes her beyond Australia."
