"I am very impressed with how Point Park students are prepared for real-world work. So impressed, I hired my first full-time employee (Megan Thorpe) from my co-op experience with Point Park!"

Katie Love, owner, Love Social Media

Describe the co-op position at Love Social Media.

During her co-op with Love Social Media, I wanted my student, Megan Thorpe, to have an opportunity to fully manage one of my clients. I allowed Megan to take over Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for a local business. She created original content, figured out when to post the content and then engaged with the audience to entice interest.

Tell us about your career background.

I studied broadcast journalism at Texas Christian University. I worked as a morning TV anchor and reporter in Missouri, an investigative reporter in Virginia and a political and general assignment reporter in Ohio. I covered high-profile murder trials, an EF-5 tornado and then the 2016 Presidential Election.

I learned about branding myself as a journalist on social media. I became fascinated with how people communicated and disseminated information on platform like Facebook and Twitter so I started going to social media workshops and decided to start my own business!
