Meet Tejiri Odjighoro, Engineering Management Alumna Working at Unilever Alumni Profile

What have you been up to since graduating from Point Park?

Besides surviving and thriving in a global pandemic, I moved to a new city and stepped into my role as the global engineering leader for Unilever’s digital and automation factory team.

What are your key responsibilities at your job?

I am in charge of leading and driving the deployment of the digital program into factories across Unilever’s global supply chain.

What do you like about it?

I like that I am at the helm of transformational change in the organization and I get to influence what the future of supply chain will look like for Unilever’s factories globally. 

Why did you choose Point Park for your engineering management degree?

The vibrant location, diverse culture and exceptional curriculum are but a few of the many reasons I chose to attend Point Park. Plus, it helped that I was also awarded a full-tuition scholarship at the University.

What did you like about the program? What made it stand out from other schools?

I loved having the opportunity to learn from some of the best and brightest professors, instructors and facilitators in the country. Professors like Dr. Gregg Johnson, Dr. Aike Okolo and many more were instrumental in creating an exceptional classroom experience for me at the University.

To me, what makes Point Park stand out from other schools are the people and the culture. The people are kind, and the culture is accepting. Mix that with a dose of top-tier theoretical and experiential learning, and it’s clear that Point Park offers its students a truly impeccable academic experience.

How would you describe the experience you had with the program's faculty? Did you have a favorite professor?

One word comes to mind when thinking about the engineering management program faculty: amazing! I have seldom been around a group of people so willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to make the students feel happy, comfortable and heard. My favorite staff member in the department is Kristin Steele. I ascribe a lot of my fondest memories of Pittsburgh to my time working with her in the NSET office. She is a truly remarkable person and I am glad to have met her.  

How did Point Park prepare you for the work you're doing now?

Courses like organizational behavior, economic analysis, and engineering project management were invaluable in enhancing the skills and competencies I needed to excel in the workforce. I came into my new role ready, eager and certain of all I had to offer.

What career advice do you have for current engineering students?

Dream big! The world is overflowing with opportunities. Be bold, believe in yourself and your abilities, take calculated risks and make the most out of every chance you get. 

Is there anything else you would like to add? 

Point Park is a school like no other. From welcoming staff to eager students, Point Park creates an environment that feels like home. For a student in a new environment, nothing could be more important.
