Hip Hop Dance Concentration

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance

Department of Commercial Dance

Nationally-Recognized School of Dance One of First to Offer Hip Hop Concentration

Fall 2025: Point Park University's world-renowned School of Dance is one of the first to offer a Hip Hop Dance concentration, a style prevalent in commercial, entertainment and Broadway dance.

In this rigorous B.F.A. program, students will learn from experienced faculty and professionals who have a global understanding of the commercial dance industry, including Crystal Frazier, M.F.A., one of the first tenured Hip Hop professors.

Students will train in the University's George Rowland White Performance Center to develop a solid foundation and expertise in various hip hop styles — breaking, popping/locking, waving, vogue, street jazz and house — while also being exposed to diverse movement vocabularies — ballet, modern, tap, jazz, African and improvisation — ensuring they are well positioned for success in the ever-changing dance industry.

Performance opportunities include hip hop repertoire and works by renowned hip hop and jazz faculty and guest choreographers for film and TV, Broadway, music recording artists and sports team artistic directors. Students will be versatile, well-rounded artists and adaptable dancers with solid foundations that include acting and theatre skills.
