Point Park will commit to industry- and community-immersed programs that leverage the strengths of our urban setting and offer unique student experiences.
Goals
Goals for the strategic initiative of program excellence include:
- Become the market leader in the areas of arts, entertainment and media by creating links between the Conservatory and our other five schools with new majors and minors.
- Enhance program quality and relevance.
- Enhance curriculum requirements.
- Infuse experiential learning activities such as co-ops, internships, real-life project work and field study work across all curricula and modalities.
- Create pathways for entrepreneurial studies and relevant credentials across all schools.
- Create an Institute of Community Engagement to include urban studies, planning and renewal and become thought leaders for urban transformation, possibly creating an urban studies or urban planning academic program.
- Expand Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in academic curricula and student learning experiences.

Key performance indicators for the strategic initiative of program excellence include:
- Student-to-faculty ratios
- Faculty qualifications
- Student satisfaction surveys (NSSE and SSI items related to quality)
- Internship/co-op opportunities and experiences
- Regular assessment of student learning outcomes and the extent to which they align with program objectives and industry standards.
