The Point Park University Police Department is at work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide a safe, secure living and learning environment for the University community, fufilling the department's mission and value statements. Police officers are on duty 365 days a year and provide immediate response to emergencies on campus.

Procedures, jurisdiction and inter-agency cooperation are set forth in the About the Department section of the University website, and any questions can be addressed at the University Police Department. The department has received accreditation from the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association.

In addition to 24-hour response, the department serves the University community through:

Trained, Uniformed Officers

The police department has both sworn police officers and non-sworn public safety officers, who serve as dispatchers. Police officers respond to criminal, security, fire and EMS emergencies. All Point Park University police officers are sworn and certified under the Municipal Police Officers' Training Academy (ACT120). All have Pennsylvania certification in CPR, AED, and first aid, with some officers certified at higher levels of medical training.

Seal bearing the words Professionals guard residence building entrances 7 days a week. Police Officers patrol University-owned buildings in well-marked vehicles, on foot and on bicycles, maintaining high visibility throughout the area.

Our officers are friendly, familiar faces on the Point Park campus, getting to know students, faculty and staff. They are ready to assist in all types of situations.

In Partnership with the Community

The police department works to facilitate a safe environment conducive to learning, working and personal growth in partnership with all campus constituents.

Emergency Notification System

One of the ways students, faculty and staff can participate in this public safety partnership is through PointALERT, the University's emergency notification system.

Registration is encouraged across the University community. Users receive notifications critical to safety and well being as well as other types of notifications selected. Alerts can be received through text messages and emails — and soon through voicemails, Facebook and Twitter.

Register for Point ALERT. It's fast and easy using the online form.
