Student Health Center Getting Healthy, Staying Healthy
The Student Health Center is dedicated to helping students get well and stay well. It is our mission to provide high-quality, student-centered, inclusive health care and wellness promotion to our campus community to support academic excellence and success. We strive to create a culture of overall wellness that fosters diversity, inclusivity, and life-long learning. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is crucial to the overall success of the college experience and positive academic outcomes. All students may receive health care through the Student Health Center.
Visiting the Nurse
The office is located on the 3rd floor of the Student Center and same-day appointments are often available. Please visit Student Health Center Appointments to book your appointment.
Services available on campus:
- First aid intervention
- Illness and injury assessment
- Annual flu shots
- Starter doses of over-the-counter medication
- Health screenings (e.g., blood pressure checks, height and weight measurements)
- Community health referrals
- Assistance with physician appointments
- Health education and resource materials
Services not available on campus:
- Annual Physical examinaitons
- Allergy injections
- Other immunizations
Additional Care
Point Park University has partnered with Allegheny Health Network for medical care outside the scope of the Student Health Center. At AHN Downtown, located within walking distance of campus, students can make appointments to see providers or walk in during the Express Care hours. The AHN Downtown Medical Center offers patients on-site clinical quality and patient-centered health care services. This medical center offers primary care, physical therapy, lab services, and more to our campus community. All visits to AHN Downtown are billed through insurance and is an in-network provider for any student with the Student Health Insurance Plan.
COVID-19 Vaccine Requirements
Point Park University will no longer require the COVID-19 vaccination for all students participating in face-to-face classes or campus activities. This change in policy and procedure will go into effect beginning in Summer 2023 and continue for the 2023-2024 academic year.
If for any reason changes need to be made to the status of this requirement an announcement will be sent to the entire campus community.
All vaccine policies are subject to change.
Confidentiality
The staff of the University's Student Health Center is bound by the medical ethics of confidentiality. Information provided will not be released to a third party, including parents, without the student's written authorization, unless legally required or permitted. Students who wish to authorize the release of confidential health information must complete the appropriate form and return it to the Student Health Center (see Location & Contact Information above right).
