Why did you choose Point Park University?

I chose Point Park because of its size and location. I wanted to move to Pittsburgh to have opportunities to work with Pittsburgh’s professional sports teams. Point Park seemed like it would be the perfect step to get there, and it has been.

Tell us about your work experience with Major League Baseball.

I work for Major League Baseball as a live content creator with the Pittsburgh Pirates. In this position, I work for the MLB’s social media team and attend most Pirates home games to gather content for the MLB, as well as the home and away teams. Most of what I do is photography. It has been incredible to see players and teams sharing my work on their respective social media platforms. I am having so much fun in this position and it has really confirmed that I am going into the right career.

Where is the best spot to take photos in the city?

Right now, my favorite spot is from behind home plate at PNC Park. We have such a beautiful ballpark with an even better view that never gets old. When I am shooting things other than baseball, I typically just walk around the city to see what catches my eye. With portraits, I love to find the unique little spots, like tops of parking garages and random alleys. My favorite garage to shoot from is on 6th Street above Starbucks. It is very close to Market Square so you get a unique view of it and the rest of the city.

You are the new vice president of marketing for the Campus Activities Board. Tell us about that.

In this role I will be overseeing CAB’s marketing team, which includes graphic design, public relations and advertising. I am really excited for the incoming board that we have. They are a really talented group of students that I think will work well together to coordinate and market this year’s events. I’ve previously served as the graphic design coordinator for CAB, and am really excited to take my experience and lead this group of students. This position is very similar to what I would like to be doing in my career, so it’s a great opportunity for me to grow as a leader and professional.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Don’t be afraid to pursue your dream job. It might be difficult at times but where there is a will, there is always a way. I’ve doubted my skills many times after not getting certain positions or internships, but if you keep working, something better will always come along. If you find something you love and are able to make a career out of it, go for it. Confidence in yourself and your work will take you further than you think.
