Point Park University Students Film a Doritos Commercial for Super Bowl Ad Contest Tuesday, January 28, 2025
Four Point Park University students submitted a commercial to the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl contest for a chance to have their work shown during Super Bowl LIX, win tickets to the game and a cash prize. Even though their ad was not selected to advance to the semifinals, it did land a spot on the Doritos website during the early stages of the competition.
Teaming up with Amir Moradi, owner of Vitreen Studio, the group created "Caught Orange Handed." The 30-second commercial takes place in a courtroom where the prosecution presents remnants of nacho cheese dust on the hands of the defendant as evidence. Watch it here:

Tell us about your key responsibilities on the commercial.
I was brought in to do behind-the-scenes work and stepped into a larger role as assistant director. I helped with the entire process, including set design, shot review, editing review, casting and writing the script. I also assisted with outreach and PR as the main force behind the publicity and press release after the commercial was published.
How did your college experience prepare you to succeed in your role?
Point Park led me to meet my classmate Nihad Hebib and helped create the network of student creators required to complete this project. It also helped me gain experience in media production, PR and advertising. Plus, it has allowed me to grow my brand and company with professional consulting opportunities.
Why would you recommend Point Park to a prospective student?
I would recommend Point Park because of the knowledgeable faculty and staff and involved student body. For students interested in entrepreneurship, there's no better place to grow a business, learn about opportunities and get involved with professional-level programs.
Nihad Hebib '25

Major: Accounting
Hometown: Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina
High school: Baldwin High School
Dream job: Cinematographer
What did you enjoy most about this project?
I enjoyed meeting so many creative people who were eager to put in the work to get the job done. It was challenging at times, but it was worth it to complete the final product.
Did any class assignments help to spark your creativity?
At the beginning of my Creative Writing classes, my teacher encourages us to journal for 90 seconds on a topic of our choice. This warm-up exercise was a great way to spark my creativity.

Role: Editorial Assistant
Major: Cinema Production
Hometown: Allison Park, Pa.
High school: Hampton High School
Dream job: Film Editor
What did you enjoy most about working on this commercial?
I assisted in the post-production editing and review of the commercial. As a film student, I have taken several production and post-production courses that helped me collaborate with others in the editing room. I enjoyed working with Nihad and Shandon in the editing room; they both offered great direction for this project to succeed.
Why did you choose Point Park for your major?
I chose Point Park because of its film program. I've always had a passion for filmmaking and fell in love with the program. Point Park offers a great place to connect with others who are passionate. You collaborate with different people throughout the courses, and it can carry over to other projects in the future.
Nathan Cardillo '25
Role: Assistant Editor
Major: Cinema Production
Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pa.
High school: Baldwin High School
How did your Point Park experience prepare you for this role?
A major part of the film curriculum is becoming hyper-analytical toward every detail that goes into what makes a film a film. With this in mind, the crew asked me to provide another perspective as a film student to help aid this project.
Why would you recommend Point Park to a prospective student?
I would recommend Point Park to a student interested in any major because of its small campus and class sizes, which allows for personal attention. That's so important and may not be available in a larger school.
