What makes Point Park’s B.F.A. in dance program distinctive?
We offer a conservatory dance education in a liberal arts university, and our students are uniquely prepared for a range of opportunities following graduation. Our approach to training builds versatility and encourages students to refine their individual performance styles while learning from renowned guest artists and faculty.
As you and the faculty train the next generation of artists, could you speak to the importance of educating them on the significance of dance in the broader sense?
Our dancers learn about how dance reflects culture, and we explore the importance of moving together as a community. Students also develop critical thinking skills that apply to a broad range of social contexts. Through this process, we examine how dance helps us understand ourselves and our place in the world.
What advice do you have for prospective dance majors?
Prospective dance majors should balance rigorous dance training with learning about dance as a means of creative expression.
Is there anything you would like to add?
The energy of this dance program is unlike anything I have experienced. I encourage everyone to attend a performance!
