Why did you transfer to Point Park?

I transferred to Point Park because I heard through a friend about the great photography program. When I got here, I decided I wanted to pursue photojournalism because I have always been a visual person and love talking to people and hearing their stories. I never even visited Point Park. It was a chance that I took and I'm so glad I did.

How do you feel about the School of Communication's facilities?

The photography labs are wonderful. They have the software that is used in the career field to help you stay competitive.

Why is your major a good fit for you?

Photojournalism fits me because I love telling stories using still photographs and more recently, video. I have always been curious about the history of places and the people that live there.

Why would you recommend Point Park to a prospective student?

I would recommend Point Park because the School of Communication faculty hold their students to the high standard needed to accomplish any career goals they may have. The class sizes are relatively small, giving that one-on-one time needed between instructor and student. If students are thinking about getting into photography or photojournalism, the classes are extremely hands-on because you actually work with the equipment you would use in the field. Point Park is above the rest.

What are your career goals?

I would love to work in multimedia for a small newspaper outside of the Pittsburgh area to gain more professional experience. After that, I would love to work in other countries that are experiencing political or social unrest and make documentary films. My goal is to educate others by practicing journalism and using visual media.
