"I thank my professors for helping me explore the vastly different fields of information technology in classes that help me gain skills related to my co-op."
How did you land a co-op with Philips Respironics?
I landed my co-op/internship with Philips Respironics through someone I know who works for the company's Software Engineer Department. They helped me get my foot in the door for an interview, and I was offered this great co-op opportunity for the fall semester of 2020.
Tell us about the work you do for your co-op.
I work as a software engineer intern for testing code in the UI front-end angular and back end in Java Spring Boot/JUnit. The application we are writing is related to website use for health organizations accessing patients' medical information through the Philips health machine data being sent back to the UI website.
What factors made you choose Point Park University’s Rowland School of Business?
One of the reasons why I chose Point Park University is because the Rowland School of Business has a strong background in business with a great information technology background for tech-related businesses.
How have Point Park’s classes and faculty helped you excel in this co-op?
The Point Park classes for IT and business helped me gain great experience within the classroom setting, as well as other resources related to academic improvement through outside-classroom knowledge. I thank my professors for helping me explore the vastly different fields of information technology in classes that help me gain skills related to my co-op.
What are your career goals?
My career goal is digging deep through working in the information technology industry and gaining endless knowledge to benefit my existing skillset, as well as other related interests in the field of information technology.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would encourage an IT or business student at Point Park University to seek opportunities like the co-op program to work in business/tech-related companies, as they provide great insight for career experience and help build strong relationships with the IT/business community.
