"Rebecca’s MBA degree has given her a diverse perspective and more confidence to perform her role as a senior analyst."
"I was asked quite often, 'How will you use your MBA after you graduate?' I can tell you that I began using in my work and personal life what I learned not just after I graduated — but from my very first MBA class."
What factors made you choose our MBA program?
I chose Point Park University among several universities offering an MBA program with a global and/or international focus. As a full-time professional, I was looking for ease of access to classes, classes offered in the evenings and an on-campus classroom setting. I definitely wanted to be in the classroom with the professors, but also with the students who I hoped would be an array of international students.
Point Park was in walking distance from where I work (BNY Mellon) and has a beautiful and safe campus. I also like smaller universities as I find the classroom size is smaller and the student to teacher ratio is very favorable. Lastly, the tuition and expenses fit well within my financial plans.
How have your MBA classes helped you in your role as a senior analyst for BNY Mellon?
I was asked quite often, “How will you use your MBA after you graduate?” I can tell you that I began using in my work and personal life what I learned not just after I graduated — but from my very first MBA class. The orientation of team projects, research and managing a work/student/life balance has helped me gain great insight.
I am better at working with an array of individuals, presenting among peers and upper level management, being open minded, looking at projects from different angles, being thorough, handling more stressful situations and I'm more disciplined with time.
What are your favorite Point Park grad school memories?
My most favorite memory will be the fact that I learned from such brilliant professors and had the opportunity to receive advance instruction in global management/international business. I feel very blessed to have been able to go through this program and have my eyes and mind open to so many new things.
I will certainly enjoy the lasting relationships which I have made with people from all over the world. This includes both students and professors. I so enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment when our groups completed projects together.
Describe your experience at our 2018 Hooding Ceremony.
It was so exciting to be there and have my children watch the ceremony. It was great seeing fellow graduates who I have been in class with graduating, seeing my professors in their doctorate robes and of course walking on stage to receive my diploma.
What’s your advice for professionals considering an MBA?
I highly suggest pursuing an MBA degree at whatever age you are. It is wonderful to get in a classroom with such brilliant professors and other academic-minded students. It is one of the best things that I ever did in my life.
