"My position at Highmark is challenging so I value greatly the knowledge and skills I gained from Point Park's M.B.A. program."

-- Chynna Carter

What role did your M.B.A degree play in helping you land your new position with Highmark?

As an associate consultant for Highmark, I support enterprise solutions and client proposals. I collaborate with product and finance teams to develop solution cost estimates and proposal pricing. My position at Highmark is challenging so I value greatly the knowledge and skills I gained from Point Park's M.B.A. program.

My M.B.A degree allowed me to transform theory into practice for my career. The majority of my classes required me to work in a group, which helped me gain team-building skills for this position and develop and foster relationships with my client solutioning team.

Alongside my course work, Dr. Maharaja informed me about a great fellowship with the Jewish Healthcare Foundation. Being selected for this opportunity exposed me to various major health issues and how to implement solutions for them and it also helped me land my current position with Highmark.

Why did you choose Point Park for graduate school?

I chose Point Park for graduate school due to the convenient Downtown Pittsburgh location and the small class sizes the University offers.

What was your favorite M.B.A. class and why?

My favorite M.B.A. class was Health Care Policy Analysis because the class required open discussions and views regarding health policies and regulations. All of the case studies in the course gave me the ability to synthesize, evaluate and apply health concepts from a political standpoint.

What are your career goals?

My career goals are to continue to learn and grow in the health consulting field with the dream of one day becoming a CEO in one of the sectors of the health care industry.

Do you have a favorite quote?

"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
