"V3 has changed my life. The advice and direction I’ve gotten from faculty and business professionals has made a big difference in my career path. I have tools now to make good decisions going forward that I might not have had access to before."

After a successful launch of the inaugural Vigor, Vibe and Venture business competition, Point Park University’s Rowland School of Business will open the submission window for its second contest on Feb. 1.

The Vigor, Vibe and Venture (V3) contest awards a $10,000 prize to entrepreneurs, product developers and concept creators from around the Pittsburgh region to grow their business or career dreams. The contest is a partnership between Point Park University and Above to Below, a Pittsburgh-based business consulting firm.

Last year, inspirational rapper Yusef Shelton, a native of Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood, won V3 to help launch his music career.

"V3 has changed my life," Shelton said. "The advice and direction I’ve gotten from faculty and business professionals has made a big difference in my career path. I have tools now to make good decisions going forward that I might not have had access to before."

“It’s not just the contest winner who receives advice and mentorship," said Steve Tanzilli, J.D., dean of the Rowland School of Business. "We provide all the finalists with what we hope will help them move their goals forward. V3 is about building and supporting a strong entrepreneurial foundation right here in Pittsburgh.”

A 1999 graduate of Point Park University anonymously donated the $10,000 prize money.

Submissions will be accepted Feb. 1 through April 30. To enter, visit the V3 Challenge website.
