"Balancing a full-time position, a graduate program and a toddler can be really challenging and overwhelming at times, but Point Park has made it possible. What does your job entail at Goldman Sachs?
My job entails comprehensive understanding of end-to-end flow of a payment in its processing life cycle, including interaction with various interfaces and data mapping. I am required to work directly with the line and cross-functional teams to identify risk gaps and continuous improvement opportunities in payment processing. I am also responsible for supervising the payment settlement functions, perform discrepancy review, resolving breaks and exceptions.
What factors made you choose Point Park for your MBA?
Balancing a full-time position, a graduate program and a toddler can be really challenging and overwhelming at times, but Point Park has made it possible. Point Park's location drew me towards choosing the University for my MBA program. The convenience of walking to my class right after work was very important to me.
How have your MBA classes and degree helped you advance in your career?
I have my specialization in software engineering in my undergraduate program, which has made me technically strong, but I always felt I lacked in management skills. The MBA program has taught me fundamentals of business administration. The coursework is diverse and made me much more confident in presenting myself to succeed in the next level of my career.
What did you like about the faculty and their teaching styles?
The entire faculty group is very welcoming. As most of the classes are constituted by working professionals, the faculty always try to keep students engaged and share real-life scenarios for the concepts, which one could apply in their current job. They have always been understanding and cooperating, especially during the pandemic.
Why would you recommend Point Park to a prospective student?
The Rowland School of Business has a strong background in business administration and opens doors from the day you start with networking opportunities and experiences unlike other programs. The location is definitely a big motivating factor if you are a working professional.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I never had the courage to attempt a graduate program with so many things going on in my life. My colleague inspired me, who is also a graduate from Point Park ,and I cannot believe I am holding an MBA degree today. Everything in life happens for a reason. It may not seem right for the moment, but if you believe in yourself and keep moving forward, then I am sure you will reach your goal one day. If I can do it, you can, too!
