"The faculty and staff first come to mind when I think back on my favorite Point Park memories. I got to know and meet some incredible individuals who became like family and with whom I am still in touch to this day. The international student population is another highlight. They not only brought different perspectives to the classroom, but they had a profound impact on my being. The discussions we had inside and outside the classroom made me a better person, a better leader and a better citizen."

As an international student, why did you choose Point Park to pursue your undergraduate and graduate degrees?

My family moved to the United States when I was 15 years old. We originally moved to Ohio and before completing high school, I started to look at universities in the area. Point Park was actually my second choice but, as things turned out, it was the best fit for me.

Being a city girl and someone who enjoys the arts, ending up in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh was ideal. I also enjoyed the small class sizes and familiar atmosphere on campus, as well as Point Park’s great international community.

Tell us about your position as a global partner marketing manager for Emarsys.

I started at Emarsys two years ago. Funny enough, I had applied for a position at Emarsys four years ago when first settling in Vienna, Austria. I didn’t get that initial job, but instead received an offer from another company where I got my start in partner marketing.

Fast forward two years later, I applied again at Emarsys — this time for a position in partner marketing — and within a month from my first interview, I was starting my new role. I share this story as everything in life is about timing. As the first partner marketing manager at Emarsys, I’ve been responsible for setting up, leading and overseeing all marketing activities with our partners.

Our partners range from major e-commerce and full-service agencies to system integrators and technology companies. Having arrived at Emarsys at the very beginning stages of our partner program, it’s been quite rewarding to see our program take off and have been a part of this success.

What are your favorite Point Park memories?

The faculty and staff first come to mind when I think back on my favorite Point Park memories. I got to know and meet some incredible individuals who became like family and with whom I am still in touch to this day. The international student population is another highlight. They not only brought different perspectives to the classroom, but they had a profound impact on my being. The discussions we had inside and outside the classroom made me a better person, a better leader and a better citizen.

Describe your experiences as an international student on Point Park’s campus.

Being an international student in the United States comes with its share of challenges. As one can expect, there’s a little more paperwork and additional red tape to go through. This being said, the staff at Point Park was always ready to help and find a solution to ensure a smooth experience. Unlike very large universities, where students often become numbers, students are known by their first names at Point Park. That’s quite amazing.

What are your career goals and what role has Point Park played in helping you reach them?

My marketing roles have so far been very hands on, acquiring and sharpening a lot of the hard skills I gained in the public relations and advertising major and MBA program at Point Park. In the next phase, I look forward to using some of the softer leadership skills I received in the M.A. in organizational leadership program, building a global team and helping young talent thrive.

The generational gap in the workplace has never been so big and the stakes higher; I hope to make positive difference on others’ professional developments.

Do you have a favorite quote?

“You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.” — Steve Jobs
