"Bryan has been excelling from the minute he was hired at BNY Mellon. His attention to detail, natural leadership qualities and overall experience made him the perfect candidate for a supervisory role. Since beginning his MBA program, I noticed his interest and sharpened understanding of the company as a whole. The program made him more aware of other areas outside of our own and how we all function alongside each other to achieve organizational goals."

J. Barrett Thomas, Manager, BNY Mellon

"I was in the MBA program from May 2016 until April 2018 and was promoted twice during that time in 2016 and 2017. After graduation, I was promoted again several months later in 2018 to a manager role and feel a lot of my drive and new mindset came from getting my MBA."

What impact has your MBA degree had on your recent career achievements?

While my MBA was in progress, it shaped how I viewed large organizations. It allowed for me to view an organization from the larger picture and the overall flow. This mindset directly correlated to my own team at work and the overall organization which has aided me in being promoted to a supervisor role and winning the 2018 Employee of the Year award for all of Asset Servicing at BNY Mellon.

What factors made you choose Point Park University for graduate school?

I was looking at Robert Morris, California University of PA and Point Park. The flexibility of Point Park and its convenient location made it the best fit for me. They also offered deferred tuition reimbursement which allowed me to obtain my master’s degree without ever taking out any graduate student loans. This was huge in my decision making.

What was your favorite MBA class and why?

My favorite class was Organizational Behavior, but I gained the most from Managerial Perspectives on Human Resources. The knowledge obtained in Organizational Behavior was the most interesting to me and the concepts I learned in Managerial Perspectives on Human Resources directly impacted my interviewing skills and experience when interviewing new candidates to be hired on my team.

What career advice do you have for our MBA students?

Take full advantage of the assignments that require you to work outside the textbook. Reviewing actual online court cases, company financial reports and case studies allowed me to see how historical situations played out and then compare them to similar situations I had already ran or may run into within my own career.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Point Park makes for a comfortable learning environment. I recommend anyone inquire about this MBA program if you are stuck between deciding to get an MBA or not. I wasn’t sure if it was something for sure I wanted to do.
