Update
Kelsey is now a Retail Business Coordinator for Edward Marc Brands.
How did you become a marketing manager for Bruegger's?
After working in various marketing and event jobs for almost two years, I applied and interviewed for my current position and was hired a short time after. The path to where I am now took longer than I expected but in the long run all the hard work and effort paid off.
In this role, what types of events have you been involved with so far?
I have assisted with a lot of events ranging from golf outings and business meetings to charity and community events. It is my responsibility to make sure Bruegger's has a strong community presence in the Pittsburgh region.
Please list internship and career-related experiences you had throughout college.
- Intern for sponsorship department, Live Nation
- Brand ambassador, Team Enterprises
- Grand opening coordinator for Dick's Sporting Goods, RetailComm
- Lexus Club supervisor, CONSOL Energy Center
- Brand ambassador, Switch
What factors made you choose Point Park University and its SAEM program?
Point Park was the first university I looked at and I knew right away this was "my school." The location and size of Point Park was exactly what I was looking for in a college. In high school, I was always involved with sports and community events so the SAEM program really appealed to me and made me want to learn more about this major.
In what ways have your Point Park classes helped you as a marketing manager?
Every day in my job I use the tactics I learned in my marketing and promotions class. My advice to students is that if you are in that class and interested in working in marketing, pay close attention and keep your notes! I also loved my event management class.
What are your career goals?
I hope to have a long-standing career with Bruegger's and would like to always work in the area of events management.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Pay attention in class and have open communication with your professors. Also, work as much as you can to gain experience in your field. If you don't get your dream job right away, don't give up! Lastly, I'd like to thank Professor Ed Traversari for all his help!
