POSITION:   Institutional Partnerships Manager

DEPARTMENT:  University Advancement

REPORTS TO:  Assistant Vice President of University Advancement

WORK SCHEDULE:  Hybrid Schedule

Position Summary:  The Institutional Partnerships Manager is responsible for maximizing philanthropic giving from corporate, government, and foundation partners in support of the mission and strategic vision of Point Park University. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for the Office of University Advancement, the Institutional Partnerships Manager will cultivate and steward relationships with a portfolio of regional and national corporations, government agencies, and professional foundations to secure funding for various strategic projects and priorities at the University. The Institutional Partnerships Manager will identify, research, cultivate, and solicit grants, while also helping to write proposals and reports in collaboration with program staff. 

Qualifications:

  • At least 5-7 years of professional level experience required in fundraising and/or nonprofit management.
  • Personal track record of success in reaching and exceeding fundraising goals, including a history of securing gifts of $10,000+ from corporate, government, and/or foundation sources.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with a variety of funder types.
  • Experience researching donor prospects. Ability to analyze and determine philanthropic alignment between each donor and area of opportunity is key.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing grant proposals and managing grant teams, reports, and other supplemental materials.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated project management, organization, delegation, and prioritization skills.
  • Proven ability to establish objectives, set performance standards, and organize and motivate a team to achieve goals.

Responsibilities:

Performs under the general supervision of the AVP of University Advancement and is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

Philanthropy Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of institutional funders, including professional foundations, public agencies, corporate funders, and community organizations in order to meet annual goals in support of the organization's programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct prospect research and create an annual plan that aligns funding opportunities with key organizational needs.
  • Implement customized stewardship and engagement strategies for institutional funders that demonstrates the impact of their philanthropic support.
  • Manage the development of compelling presentations and pitch materials for requests of various sizes.
  • Lead, either independently or with a team of cross-departmental staff, the development of grant proposals, budgets, reports, and other supplemental materials.
  • Write various grant proposals, reports, and other materials related to institutional gifts.
  • Oversee the grants management process, including the overall grants schedule, collaboration with data services on gift entry donor CRM system, grant kickoff and interim report meetings, and final reporting deadlines. 
  • Collaborate with Finance/Business Office and other relevant staff to ensure compliance with various grant requirements.
  • Monitor, facilitate, and increase governmental funding programs.
  • Assist with the coordination of and benefit fulfillment for corporate partners.
  • Prepare senior leadership for external meetings with current and prospective funders.
  • Collaborate with Advancement staff to meet funder communications requirements and advise from the institutional funding perspective including social media posts, website copy, and press releases.

Government Relations Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and facilitation of Point Park’s relationships with elected officials at the local, state, and federal levels related to government grants and funding opportunities.
  • Assist the President & CEO and other senior staff in the implementation on a plan to engage and inform elected representatives on Point Park’s programs, projects, and priorities related to government grants and funding opportunities.
  • Schedule site visits and tours with elected officials as needed.
  • Explore new ideas through professional growth opportunities.
