POSITION:  Development Coordinator

DEPARTMENT:  Pittsburgh Playhouse

REPORTS TO:  Managing/Artistic Director

WORK SCHEDULE:  Fully on campus

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Pittsburgh Playhouse Development Coordinator serves as a key member of the Pittsburgh Playhouse and Institutional Advancement teams. This significant role is supervised by and works directly with the Managing and Artistic Director of the Pittsburgh Playhouse and in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Advancement.

The Development Coordinator must demonstrate exemplary interpersonal and communication skills including solid experience with writing, editing, and research. This position requires an effective understanding of a contributed income business model. The position requires detailed computer and organizational skills including an understanding of fundraising databases and high proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Additionally, candidates must have the desire to work positively and in a fast-paced team environment. The role serves the Playhouse community with hours fluctuating between daylight and occasional evening and/or weekend performances and events.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Interested candidates should have two to five years of relevant fundraising experience expanding through the various facets of art including but not limited to performance, production, cinema, design, and interdisciplinary mediums.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Cultivating relationships: funding advancement, contributions, and participation
  2. Identifying potential future forward funding
  3. Database management: updating new donor information, pledges, gifts/payments, renewals
  4. Individual giving: draft solicitations, manage VIP requests, ensure proper acknowledgement and placement
  5. Grant writing: research, application, data collection, reviews, appeals
  6. Special events: collaboration for dress rehearsals, opening nights, corporate events, galas
