TITLE: Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Operations
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Athletics
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time Exempt


BASIC FUNCTION:
The Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Operations is responsible for managing the facilities of the athletic department and coordinating home event operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee, schedule, and coordinate all indoor and outdoor athletic facility use.
  • Be the primary liaison between Pioneer Athletics and all rental facility contacts.
  • Build professional relationships within the department, across campus and in the community.
  • Oversee and coordinate on and off-campus facilities for competition and practice.
  • Create and maintain the Athletic Department event schedule.
  • Oversee and coordinate game operations.
    • Coordinate the setup and takedown of all home game operations.
    • Ensure that proper equipment is available and functioning at every home game.
  • Oversee and coordinate the Athletic Department's use of Officials.
    • Serve as the primary liaison between Pioneer Athletics and the officials/officials assignor.
    • Ensure the assignor has the most up-to-date schedule. If a contest is changed in advance must notify the assignor.
  • Oversee and coordinate all Athletic Department non-conference Athletic Events Agreements.
    • Ensure the Vice President of Athletics is informed about important aspects of athletic department contracts.
  • Hire, train, and schedule, and oversee work study students and student interns, to assist with operations.
  • Coordinate conference and NCAA post-season competition operations.
    • Assist the Vice President of Athletics in preparing for all postseason activity, including transportation, accommodations, and meal money.
    • Ensure that all necessary paperwork has been filled out prior to the deadlines for the post-season competition.
  • Maintain professional conduct and uphold the values expected of a Point Park University employee as outlined in the PPU employee handbook.
  • Help to orchestrate all Department of Athletics fundraising events such as the Annual Athletic Golf Outing, Athletic Hall of Fame.
  • Assist with athletic sponsorships and their agreements, obligations and requirements.
  • Assist with the coordination of Athletic Department transportation.
    • Coordinate the van and bus use schedule.
    • Coordinate athletic department travel; work with coaches to ensure proper booking and contact management of athletic travel.
    • Schedule vans for athletic use and other use by the Point Park community.
  • Abide by all compliance and regulatory expectations of the department, including but not limited to:
    • Point Park Athletics compliance.
    • NCAA Division II and Mountain East Conference Bylaws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Title IX and CLERY Act regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Athletics.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to work in a physically active environment, with occasional high-intensity activity.
  • Office work and a significant amount of event planning and coordination.
  • Moderate activity that may include the moving of furniture and equipment, as well as lifting and pushing.
  • Frequent evening and weekend hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree in Coaching, Sport/Athletic Management, Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education, Education, or other closely related field desired.
  • 1 to 3 years experience in coaching and/or athletic administration desired.
  • Budgeting, planning, and computer skills.
