POSITION:  Associate Athletic Director - Sports Information Director

DEPARTMENT:  Athletics

REPORTS TO:  Vice President of Athletics

WORK SCHEDULE:  Hybrid

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred, with a major in communications, journalism or related field. 
  2. At minimum of two years of experience working in a collegiate sports information office. 
  3. Background in writing and editing, specifically as it applies to sports information.
  4. Ability to work, communicate and develop rapport with the media, student-athletes, coaches and administrators.
  5. Desktop publishing experience.
  6. Statcrew and Dakstats experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, including national, conference and sport rules and regulations.
  2. Full-time experience working in a collegiate athletics office.
  3. Previous experience managing student workers at athletic events.
  4. Experience in layout, design and editing of publications.
  5. Experience with designing and maintaining a dynamic website, including experience interfacing with web streaming and digital video applications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in areas related to the Point Park athletic department as associate athletic director. Working closely with the Vice President of Athletics on a variety of aspects of the department.
  2. Serving as part of the leadership team of the department involved in various projects such as planning for special events, orientations and staff functions; Leading game day operations for home athletic events related to staffing, administration and communications coverage; Assisting with searches for new hires; Being a part of strategic plans and tasks forces for future growth and change of the department; Being involved with and performing tasks for fundraising and giving days and other duties as assigned for associate director of athletics.
  3. Oversee and direct the sports information functions of the department as Sports Information with various functions such as:
  • Serve as the primary sports information contact for all sports;
  • Maintain athletics website posting all results, schedules, rosters, statistics and information about teams and department;
  • Coordinate the recording of statistics for all home athletic events and contests. Required usage of SIDEARM, PrestoStats, StatCrew, NCAA Live Stats or some other approved software platform for inputting required statistics;
  • Coordinate the live video streaming broadcast of home athletic events with the expectation to stream all home events;
  • Coordinate the social media functions of the department ensuring a presence for the department and teams across platforms that are deemed necessary and appropriate;
  • Serve as a liaison between the athletic department and media. Maintaining relationships with media inside and outside of the university. Distributing necessary press releases and publicity materials.
  • Proficiency in software and technology used for website, statistics, video streaming, photography, video and photo editing and social media.
  • Coordinate team photo and media days for all teams for publicity of programs, student-athletes and athletic department
  • Present ideas to the director to enhance the department’s communication efforts and recruitment efforts; lead implementation of directives.
  • Report necessary information and statistics to the national and conference offices as required
  • Hire, supervise and schedule game workers for event management at home events
  • Manage the application and selection process for the Pioneer Athletics Hall of Fame working with alumni relations.
  • Identify and nominate submit student-athletes for conference and national awards.
  • Collaborate with the School of Communication for the administration of the Sports Communication major and club.
  • Assist the Vice President of Athletics in various projects and other duties as assigned.
