Award:

One academic year assignment, with opportunity for renewal for the 2025-26 academic year. Appointment begins with the fall 2024 semester (late August) and lasts through the end of April 2025. $10.00 per hour, up to $3,200 per semester (for a total of $6,400 for the academic year), plus fully paid tuition and fees, (9 credits per semester).  

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:                      

  • Applicants must be qualified for admission or have been admitted into a Point Park University graduate program (Masters or Doctoral level) and must commit to enrolling as a full-time degree candidate and must remain full-time throughout the term of appointment. The application processes for the graduate programs and graduate assistantships are separate. 
  • Undergraduate degree in a related area.
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA in undergraduate major; 3.25 GPA overall.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated research and writing skills.
  • Candidates must be able to complete assignments accurately in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Work an average of twenty hours per week, generally Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends. A flexible work schedule is required, and work may be required during academic holiday periods.
  • Travel may be required

Point Park University’s Graduate Assistantship program is designed to provide financial support and stimulating, practical learning experiences to graduate students.

The mission of the Office of Student Affairs is to meet the multi-faceted, co-curricular and non-academic needs of Point Park University students.  Covering a broad spectrum of support programs, activities and organizations, the Office of Student Affairs provides services which address the social, health, learning, recreational, spiritual, and cultural needs of students.  The graduate assistant reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students who determines work assignments based on the needs of the department in support of this mission and the talents and skills of the successful candidate.  This graduate assistantship will primarily be assigned to the Center for Sports Media and Marketing and will additionally support the many initiatives of the Office of Student Affairs.

Typical Duties:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of programs and services primarily for the Pittsburgh Center for Sports Media and Marketing, as well as all areas of Student Affairs.
  • Assist in planning, marketing, and carrying out scheduled events and programs, on and off campus.
  • Conduct research and report on assigned topics.
  • Assist in providing administrative support for the Pittsburgh Center for Sports Media and Marketing and the Office of Student Affairs.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
