Media in the Real World

Point Park University understands that learning isn't only done in the classroom — that's why the School of Communication offers opportunities for its students to experience the world of communication.

Each spring, students enrolled in the International Media class research the media and culture of a selected foreign country. In May, the class culminates in a trip to the chosen country, where undergraduate and graduate students examine the country's print journalism, digital media, broadcasting, advertising, public relations, photography and photojournalism professions and document their experiences through blogs and interactive websites. Past trips have included Spain and Portugal, the United Kingdom, Italy, Iceland and Ireland, London, Bruges and Amsterdam, London and Paris, and Germany, among others.

Support the International Media Trip to Ireland

This spring, students will travel to Ireland from May 5 to 23, 2025, to learn about Irish culture and media arts. The cost to travel in 2025 has risen dramatically, and for some students, finding the funds for this important trip at $4,715 (airline and program costs) per person is a burden.

Since 2008, more than 300 students have participated in this unique travel opportunity because of fundraising efforts and the generosity of our donors, which will help offset the cost of travel and study. Your impact truly makes a difference!
