Background
Michael Campayno is a seasoned performer, educator and artistic leader with over a decade of experience shaping the future of theater while maintaining a prominent career in New York City. As a Broadway veteran, Campayno originated the role of Rob Camilletti in The Cher Show and led as Fiyero in the smash-hit musical Wicked. He was involved in numerous staged readings working with Steven Sater, Liesel Tommy, Ruben Santiago-Hudson and Marcia Milgrom Dodge.
A proud Pittsburgh native, his career extends beyond the stage. He made his television debut as Rolf in NBC’s live telecast of The Sound of Music starring Carrie Underwood. He has since appeared on major television networks, including as Dean Brennan on HBO Max’s The Other Two and in The Good Fight on CBS.
He has starred in prestigious regional productions, including his portrayal of Lancelot in Camelot alongside Robert Sean Leonard and Barry Bostwick. His career also includes starring roles at The MUNY, Pittsburgh CLO, North Shore Music Theatre and Sacramento Music Circus. His concert work includes performances with the Phoenix Symphony and Carolina Philharmonic.
In addition to his extensive performing career, Campayno is a passionate educator and mentor. As the founder and artistic director of The Collective PGH, he has dedicated himself to guiding the next generation of theater artists. Through his master classes and one-on-one coaching, he has empowered hundreds of students, helping them cultivate the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the competitive landscape of the performing arts. His mentorship is renowned for its personalized approach and commitment to developing well-rounded artists poised to make a meaningful impact in the industry.
