Contemporary Theatre Making Submission Guidelines
Beginning September 1st, applicants may begin to submit materials to Point Park's Acceptd homepage.
B.F.A. contemporary theatre making students select one of the following concentrations as a course of study:
- Directing
- Playwriting
- Self-Directed Studies
Three-Step Application Process
Applicants interested in contemporary theatre making must complete a three-step process to be considered for the program:
- Academic Admittance: Apply to Point Park
- Submit your artistic materials: Submit materials via Acceptd.
- Interview: Participating in an interview with a theatre faculty member is required for admission into the contemporary theatre making program.
Contemporary Theatre Making Application Information
All candidates must supply the following:
- Theatre experience/training résumé
- Headshot (optional)
- Personal essay outlining your theatre career aspirations
- In addition to the interview, applicants will submit one or more of the following:
- A playwriting sample from an original one act or full-length play.
- A directing portfolio/video sample of their work and a one-paragraph (double spaced) proposal for an original theatre project.
- A one-minute video of a monologue or an original theatre work featuring yourself and/or collaborators (from devised work; from a play authored by you or collaborators, etc.) Please slate at the top of the video the title, author(s) and performer(s).
- Applicants will also have a brief interview with the program director while they are on campus, at the audition site or virtually.
