Non-Credit Private Lessons at Point Park University
Point Park University faculty are available for one-on-one lessons for students, alumni and community members who are at least 18 years old. Our instructors bring the same expertise and experience they share in our Conservatory to your private sessions, allowing you to grow in your art.

Lesson Information
Private lessons are one hour in length. The specific days, times, and locations for lessons are arranged directly between the student and instructor.
Participants are encouraged to arrive for their lessons 5-10 minutes early. Additionally, some faculty may request you take preparation steps, such as arriving early to change clothing, stretch, review sheet music, etc.
Cost
Each lesson package states the price per lesson for the cost of instruction, plus an administrative fee to cover scheduling, room rentals, etc. Current Point Park students and alumni are charged a discounted rate of $65 per lesson.

Our Faculty
Point Park’s Conservatory of Performing Arts has a variety of skilled faculty who are available for private instruction. The instructors listed below are confirmed to be accepting inquiries for the Spring 2025 semester.
Diana Sokol is a graduate of Point Park University, where she received her BFA in dance and MBA. She is a part-time dance instructor in the Conservatory of Performing Arts, teaching ballet. She has been teaching at Point Park University for the past seven years within their conservatory and community division.
Prior to Point Park University, she received her formal training from Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School. Diana’s mission is to foster a positive learning environment where students can strive to reach their full potential.

Yan Pang (she/they) is a composer, performer, and scholar. Pang teaches Music Composition, Music Theory, Piano, and Musicianship classes/lessons at Point Park University's musical theatre program. Pang received her Ph.D. in Music with a minor in Theater Arts & Dance at the University of Minnesota.
Pang's musical work focuses on inter-cultural music composition and performance, blending Chinese folk music elements with Western operatic traditions. A selection of her varied publications includes the scores “Nowhere Home” and “The Others” by Contemporary Music Score Collection 2020, UCLA, the peer-reviewed paper “Scene of Sichuan Opera” (co-author with Mingzhu Song), and the textbooks Cool Math for Hot Music, All About Music, Basic Music Technology, and The Future of Music (co-authored Guerino Mazzola et al.) by Springer.

Lisa Brovey-Lovach has been a part-time faculty member at Point Park since 2002, and has instructed voice lessons since 1995. She holds both Bachelor’s & Master’s Degrees from Duquesne University's School of Music.

Thespina Christulides (Mezzo-Soprano) has broad involvement in the Pittsburgh arts scene as a performer and educator. Joining voice faculty of Point Park University in 2016, she teaches private voice lessons and Principles of Singing for Actors and Dancers courses for the Conservatory of Performing Arts and Community Voice Program. Her studio alumni are performing all over the world in Broadway productions, Broadway tours, cruise ships, regional theater, television, and movies.
Thespina holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Otterbein University.

- Review the list of private lesson instructors from the faculty listings above.
- Contact your selected instructor with your request and include which package you would like to purchase, availability, and any pertinent information (ex: Mezzo Soprano, number of years playing instrument, etc.). Please mention that you are a student or alum in this outreach.
- If the instructor accepts your request, you will be provided a web link to register for your sessions. Payments are accepted online only by eCheck, debit, or credit card.
- Upon Payment, the instructor will be notified to proceed with scheduling your lessons.
Community Members
Individuals who are 18+ that are seeking private lessons from our faculty should follow the instructions below. Please note that while our current students and alumni will be prioritized for scheduling, we will put forth our best effort to accommodate your request.

- Contact your selected instructor with your request and include which package you would like to purchase, availability, and any pertinent information (ex: Mezzo Soprano, number of years playing instrument, etc.)
- If the instructor accepts your request, you will be provided a web link to register for your sessions. Payments are accepted online only by eCheck, debit, or credit card.
- Upon Payment, the instructor will be notified to proceed with scheduling your lessons.
Refunds will only be given upon cancellation of the entire package before lessons begin. Please note that the administrative fee and credit card fee are non-refundable.
If a student cancels without 24-hour’s notice or does not show for their arranged lesson(s), no refunds will be provided. The instructor will still receive their hourly rate.
If an instructor or student cancels due to illness, unsafe weather conditions, or extenuating circumstances, they will agree upon a rescheduled lesson date and time.
