SAEM Next! Second Session on Sports

The SAEM Next! second session on sports on July 22, 2020 featured:

Gerald Jones, founder, 5G Sports & Entertainment
Jim Popovich, vice president, ticket sales and service, Pittsburgh Pirates
Hailie Sandor, interactive media producer, United States Golf Association
Mike Trudnak, general manager and regional director, Learfield IMG College

It was an engaging one-hour of discussion addressing the following sports industry related questions:

What are the current challenges facing your sports organization, team or association?
What innovations have you introduced over the past four months?
How are you creatively communicating with your fans, corporate partners, etc., at a time when you engage with them in person?
What are the new job opportunities that will become available once the sports industry returns to normal?
What are the most important traits that you look for in a new hire in sports?
What advice do you give recent graduates and persons of any age looking to enter the sports industry?

The sports session was moderated by SAEM Assistant Professor and Chair Robert Derda, M.S., and assisted by co-moderator and SAEM student-athlete Jazlyn Rozier '21.
