About Women in Industry (WIN)

Educating and empowering women is an essential element of the Rowland School of Business at Point Park University. The Women in Industry (WIN) initiative exists to accelerate the success of women-identified students and professionals. By leveraging university and community resources, we strive to engage leaders, affect conversations and encourage allyship through elevating experiences.

2024-25 WIN Theme: Sustainable Ethical Practices

Sustainable ethical practices are foundational to creating a business environment that prioritizes integrity, accountability and respect for all stakeholders, building trust and credibility with stakeholders, including employees, customers, partners and the community. By demonstrating a commitment to ethical behavior, organizations can differentiate themselves in competitive markets, strengthening brand loyalty and reputation.

WIN's Sustainable Ethical Practices Series emphasizes the critical importance of ethics, not only as a moral obligation, but as a strategic asset that can enhance an organization's reputation, performance and long-term success. By integrating sustainable ethical practices into core business strategy and decision-making processes, organizations can create a culture that promotes transparency, honesty and fairness, both internally and externally. 

Series participants will gain the skills and insights needed to champion ethical practices in their respective fields, contributing to a more just and sustainable future for all.

WIN Wednesdays: Sustainable Ethical Practices Series

A six-session virtual webinar series and certificate program | Register online.

These one-hour virtual webinar sessions are scheduled monthly on Wednesdays at noon. Facilitated by Point Park professors and WIN co-directors Dorene Ciletti and Sandy Mervosh, these educational sessions are led by industry leaders, community leaders and subject matter experts who share their knowledge and expertise.

Incentives to participate include earning a non-credit certificate in Sustainable Ethical Practices for those who complete all six sessions, and each session is valid for one PDC for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP®.

This session introduces participants to the foundational concepts of ethical leadership and its significance in promoting sustainable business practices. Attendees will explore how ethical leadership fosters trust, accountability, and a strong organizational culture, as well as leading with integrity, aligning ethical principles with their organization's values and mission to drive long-term success.

 In this session, participants will examine the intersection of technology and ethics, focusing on the ethical considerations that arise in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Attendees will gain insights into responsible use of technology within their organizations, considering how technology and innovation aligns with ethical standards and societal values.

This session equips participants with the tools and frameworks needed to make ethical decisions in complex business environments. Attendees will explore ethical dilemmas, ethical decision-making models, and challenges in balancing competing interests, as well as the importance of informed and principled choices that reflect their organization's ethical commitments.

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integral to business operations, this session focuses on the ethical considerations and best practices for AI deployment. Participants will explore the challenges and opportunities AI presents, including bias, accountability, and transparency. The session will provide strategies for implementing ethical AI practices that enhance innovation while ensuring fairness and inclusivity.

This session delves into the ethical considerations throughout the employee life cycle, from recruitment and onboarding to development and separation. Participants will explore how to integrate ethical practices into policies and procedures, creating a fair and inclusive workplace and fostering an ethical organizational culture.

Effective communication is crucial for promoting ethical practices and building trust with stakeholders. This session focuses on ethical communication, emphasizing transparency, honesty, and accountability. Participants will explore strategies for clear and consistent messaging, handling misinformation, and engaging in constructive dialogue.

WIN Lunchtime Book Club

This virtual, interactive book club held monthly on Friday afternoons features engaging conversations that tie into our theme of sustainable ethical practices. Register online.
