Service-Learning Trips
The Department of Community Engagement and the Honors Program host service-learning trips annually. Mixing culture, community and service, the trips give students the opportunity to learn about a social theme and the community organizations working to help move the needle on social issues in that theme.
2019-20 Service-Learning Trips
Food Insecurity in Washington, D.C.
Students met with the nonprofit DC Greens, that advances food justice and health equity in the nation's capital and visited the student food pantry at Georgetown University. Additionally, students and faculty volunteered at the Capital Area Food Bank.
Arts and Culture in New York City
Students toured Madison Square Garden, learned about the work being done by the Brooklyn Boatworks — which offers a unique program that teaches boat building, along with STEM skills to local middle schoolers. Additionally, students volunteered with Materials for the Arts.
