Take a stroll through the Academic Village to see exhibitions and a new restaurant
Project Pop-Up at Point Park
The creative efforts of faculty and students in the University's Photography, Photojournalism and Cinema and Digital Arts programs are showcased in Project Pop-up, a year-long effort to fill various empty Downtown storefronts with new, temporary tenants, ranging from art installations to functioning retail businesses. A collaboration among Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's office, the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, the Urban Redevelopment Authority and participating artists and entrepreneurs, Project Pop-up includes Point Park installations at 422 Wood Street. Chris Rolinson, assistant professor of photography, and Andrew Halasz, assistant professor of cinema and digital arts, led the projects.

From a Different Point of View
An exhibition of contemporary art from the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) is the latest show to grace the new art gallery in the lobby of Lawrence Hall. "From a Different Point of View" opened in March (the 25th anniversary of Women's History Month). The first NAWA exhibition held in Pittsburgh, the show features 21 outstanding works selected from among 200 submissions, including oil paintings, watercolors, mixed media, linocuts, photography and sculpture. Eric Shiner, director of the Andy Warhol Museum, selected the pieces showcased in the exhibition, which was brought to Point Park through the leadership of art collector and University Trustee John Tomayko, Ph.D.

A Taste of Osteria 100
The University community and its Downtown neighbors can now enjoy a delicious Italian menu on campus at a new restaurant at the Village Park. Osteria 100, scheduled to open in late spring or early summer at Wood Street and the Boulevard of the Allies, is part of the new Village Park that officially opened last September. Osteria 100 is the third in the city for restaurateurs Tom Trimm and Chuck Hammel, owners of Cioppino Restaurant and Cigar Bar and Osteria 2350, both located in the Strip District.
