Measuring Student Satisfaction

The Student Satisfaction Inventory is a key measure of student satisfaction. Three areas of measurement (scores) can be examined from the data: importance, satisfaction and performance gaps. A combination of these three scores provides key information for institutions to consider in developing plans to address students' needs.

Any item with a mean rating that falls in the top half of importance and in the top quartile of satisfaction is defined as a "strength." Any item with a mean rating that falls in the top half of importance and in the bottom quartile of satisfaction is defined as a "challenge." The size of the performance gaps for each of these items is then used to measure how well the University is meeting students' expectations.

The SSI assists Point Park in identifying areas that students indicate matter most to them and they are most satisfied with, as well as the areas that require improvement.
